"Crocs Away" in Indonesia

trainees
Participants enjoying a trip offshore

For the 3rd year running, Total Indonesie contracted us to deliver a series of training courses to their emergency response and intervention team members. We were chosen because of the excellent feedback from the participants on previous courses. The syllabuses followed the International Maritime Organization's Model Course Levels 1, 2 and 3 with the addition of content to cover inland containment and recovery.

Total E&P Indonesie produces oil and gas from fields in East Kalimantan, an Indonesian province on the island of Borneo that is rich in natural resources and supports thriving oil, gas, logging and coal mining industries. The fields are located offshore in the Makassar Straits, an important shipping link between the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and in the Mahakam Delta, an expansive active delta system formed in the humid tropical environment. Onshore production areas and pipelines are located in a complex maze of rivers, streams and irrigation channels where Total's operations co-exist with a wide range of wildlife (including crocodiles), shrimp farming, rice fields, rubber plantations, coconut production and numerous villages and settlements.
