Anchors out in Ankara?

Ankara is not an immediately obvious location for marine related workshops but, as the capital of Turkey and the seat of government, it is a logical and convenient venue for national events. Therefore participants from around Turkey travelled to Ankara for a 3-day national workshop on oil spill dispersants.

The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, with support from OSPRI and international participation from ExxonMobil, ITOPF, OSRL/EARL and REMPEC representatives.

The event was able to consider in detail all technical and operational aspects of dispersant use. The exchange of information on policies and practices from an international perspective was designed to assist Turkey in considering development of its national regulations. Peter coordinated the speakers, contributed to the presentations and helped facilitate the workshop.
