Oil Spill Claims Workshop for Turkey

john
Tabletop exercise during the claims workshop

A 2-day oil spill claims workshop for Turkey took place in Ankara, supported by Peter Taylor, acting in his role as OSPRI Manager. In attendance were 35 people representing a broad range of relevant government departments. The event was facilitated and delivered by senior representatives from the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds, ITOPF, the UK P&I Club and the Black Sea Commission. It provided an excellent opportunity for the participants to gain a very good understanding of how the international oil spill compensation conventions (1992 CLC and 1992 Fund Convention) function and a forum to interact with the experts directly involved in these matters.

This workshop was part of continuing preparations for a major oil spill simulation exercise for the Black Sea region. The exercise is named SULH 2007 and will be hosted by Turkey in Karadeniz Ereğli.
