Working as a team to recover equipment |
The Oil Spill Training Company developed and presented a series of training courses for the TOTAL E&P Indonesie Emergency Control Centre staff and Intervention Team members. The course syllabuses were based on the International Maritime Organization's Model Course, Levels 1 and 2. Two five day IMO Level 1 Oil Spill First Responder courses were delivered along with two four day IMO Level 2 Oil Spill Commander and Supervisor courses. The course material was customized to ensure compatibility with TOTAL's Oil Spill Contingency Plans and to include risks in the company's offshore and inland operations.

A site assessment exercise |
In their end-of-course feedback, the course participants praised our delivery methods and the quality of our graphics as they contributed greatly to their ability to understand the course material. Advanced graphics can reduce lecture times by more than 50% allowing more time for re-enforcing knowledge through interactive table-top and practical exercises. Knowledge retention is significantly enhanced, particularly for participants for whom English is a second language.
"Excellent trainer and training material (well prepared by instructor)"
"I will recommend this training to be attended by all site supervisors and above. This is very good training, well prepared and easy to follow (good instructor)"

Fish drying under the Indonesian sun |
Total E&P Indonesie produces oil and gas from fields in East Kalimantan, an Indonesian province on the island of Borneo that is rich in natural resources and supports thriving oil, gas, logging and coal mining industries. The fields are located offshore in the Makassar Straits, an important shipping link between the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and in the Mahakam Delta, an expansive active delta system formed in the humid tropical environment. Onshore production areas and pipelines are located in a complex maze of rivers, streams and irrigation channels where Total's operations co-exist with shrimp farming, rice fields, rubber plantations, coconut production and numerous villages and settlements.
