IPIECA has added a new publication to its highly regarded Oil Spill Report Series; Volume 14 ‘A Guide to Tiered Preparedness and Response’. Peter Taylor was part of the review team for this document, through his close relations to IPIECA as OSPRI Manager.

Shipping activities and oil production, transportation and handling facilities bring a need for tiered preparedness & response |
The document describes the principles of tiered oil spill preparedness and response i.e. establishing escalating levels of capability commensurate with the risks. The new Guide covers this issue in detail and addresses the associated complexities, steering away from simplistic approaches based solely on potential spill volumes or locality.
The Guide is expected to assist governments and industry to better understand the process of developing suitable response capability. We ensure such latest thinking and international best practice concerning preparedness is incorporated into all our risk assessment and contingency planning projects.
