Presentation on Planning for Oiled Wildlife Response

Peter Taylor made a presentation entitled Black Sea and Caspian Sea: Planning and Capacity Building (for oiled wildlife) at the 4th Sea Alarm Conference, which took place in Ostend, Belgium. The presentation focussed on work done by oil companies in advancing wildlife response planning and the implementation of associated training and exercising programmes. Our support to these efforts has received praise during independent review; wildlife response plans we have produced were described as “outstanding” in a report to International Finance Institutions.

A key feature of our approach is working in partnership with international experts in the field of oiled wildlife rehabilitation, the oil industry, local organizations, NGOs and governments. We utilise our extensive experience of contingency planning to facilitate an inclusive process. Furthermore, in addition to technical thoroughness, we believe our focus on graphics-rich, clear documentation adds a powerful dimension to the usability and effective implementation of our wildlife response plans.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to outline our approach and exchange information with a variety of specialists in the field.
