Busy year for International Maritime Organization (IMO) assistance

Kevin O’Connell is listed on the International Maritime Organization‘s (IMO) roster of approved consultants and in 2003 he assisted the IMO in presenting three Level 2 training courses and five Level 3 seminars. The courses and seminars are designed to help countries prepare and respond to major oil pollution incidents and to encourage them to develop and maintain adequate capability to deal with such emergencies.

The Level 3 seminars were held in Romania , Russia , Bulgaria and Pakistan with the Level 2 courses in Russia and Sri Lanka . They were designed to facilitate international co-operation and mutual assistance between neighbouring countries as well as various international organizations. The events were supported by the International Tankers Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF) and the International Petroleum Industry Federation IPIECA.
