Kevin is a Mechanical Engineer with previous oil industry and fast marine craft experience. During a decade of employment with British Petroleum and a secondment to Oil Spill Response Ltd in the UK, he gained significant experience during several major international oil spill incidents.
He has directed, managed and participated in management, supervisor and hands-on training courses and response exercises in over twenty five counties on four continents.
Kevin is listed on the International Maritime Organization roster of approved consultants and is a member of oil company response teams.

Virginia Nelson

Virginia is a civil engineer and also has a degree in psychology. She has worked on a range of engineering projects, river defence contracts and risk assessments.
As the Oil Pollution Officer for a coastal local authority she was responsible for directing and managing oil spill clean-up operations and for the training of personnel.
She was also responsible for recommending Local Authority policy and making representations to both Council Members and Central Government on issues dealing with oil pollution, funding and vessel movements around 3000 miles of the UK coastline.

Richard Tatner

Richard has attended over 50 oil spills worldwide, acting as Spill Response Manager for a large number of these incidents. Previously, he held several roles at Oil Spill Response Ltd in the UK, most recently as Response Manager.
Richard had overall responsibly for the development and implementation of spill management processes and procedures to ensure the technical quality of the organizations’ response services.
However, Richards experience goes far beyond the response to incidents and includes delivering training courses, development of contingency plans, conducting preparedness reviews and carrying out a wide range of studies.

Peter Taylor

After graduating from university, Peter spent six years in environmental consultancy with the Oil Pollution Research Unit in the UK followed by ten years at Oil Spill Response Ltd.
He has been involved in many oil spill projects covering training, contingency planning and response exercises. Since 1998 he has been supporting an international programme to improve contingency planning around the world.
Peter’s current work includes managing the Oil Spill Preparedness Regional Initiative for the Caspian Sea, Black Sea and Central Eurasia region.

John Ostergaard

John, a Master Mariner, started his distinguished career serving on oil tankers before leaving to join the Royal Danish Navy. He later joined the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, Marine Division as Head of Section.
His most recent role was with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) where he acted as the Senior Advisor on Marine Pollution.
His extensive experience of serving on the Marine Environment Protection Committee and the Maritime Safety Committee coupled with his advisory role on the national implementation of MARPOL 73/78, OPRC 1990, OPRC-HNS 2000, CLC 1992, FUND 1992, Salvage, and Intervention Conventions makes him a respected international authority on marine pollution issues.

Richard Harrison

Previously an Avionics Mechanic in the RAF Richie re-trained as a multimedia software developer. Having been involved in web/multimedia development for 6.5yrs, 4.5 of these have been in the e-learning industry where he was involved in streamlining courseware development and courseware/LMS integration.
As Senior developer he is responsible for the development of the company LMS (PACES) as well as integrating our new and existing courseware.

Jon Shutt

Jonathan graduated from the University of Sunderland with a BA (hons) in Electronic Media Design in 2002. He then spent 14 months working and traveling in Canada.
As well as working on a variety of freelance design projects, he also found time to cycle 2,700 miles from the Arctic coast of Canada down to California before returning to Scotland.
Jonathan is responsible for the design of interactive e-Learning exercises, interface design, and company web design. |

Alistair Chisholm

Alistair completed an HND in Media Technology and Digital Production at Stow College, Glasgow in 2003. Gaining a wide range of multimedia skills there, he went on to work as a 3D Animator for a construction company and has almost 2 years experience in a role as Web/Graphic Designer for a large e-commerce company.
At The Oil Spill Training Company, Alistair works as a Flash Animator and Designer on the production of online e-Learning courses and electronic presentations. |

Chris achieved a BSc Physics (Hons) from Glasgow University and went on to complete a MSc in Information Technology (systems) from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.
Chris is responsible for maintaining and building the organization's Information Technology systems and for programming associated with the further development of course and exercise material. |

Claire Houlihan

Claire graduated with a BA Hons in Film and Animation from the Arts Institute at Bournemouth in 2001, after a spell of freelance work in various roles as a runner, assistant art director and animator, she spent a year traveling around the world, including 10 months working and traveling through Australia.
On returning to England she worked as a graphic designer and animator before joining The Oil Spill Training Company to work on the design and production of interactive training programs. Claire is responsible for animations, illustration and graphic design. |

David Goodman

David graduated from the University of Lincoln with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science.
After traveling to the United States for two summers teaching children animation and programming at a computer camp, David has relocated to Inverness where he takes on the role of a Flash Programmer and is responsible for developing the online course and exercise material.

Steve Panton |
|
Steve has been a journalist since 1964 and has worked for newspapers, television and radio. He spent 30 years with the BBC, including six years running the BBC radio service for London.
He has also been a media consultant to oil spill response companies since 1982. In this role, he has given media training to thousands working in the industry.
He has also been the media director on numerous major oil spill exercises, both in the UK and around the world.
